Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is likely to sign agreement with the government of China for the much anticipated fast railway track project, along with an electricity generation and Gilglit-Chakdara and Dir Chitral roads projects. This was revealed by provincial spokesman Mushtaq Ahmad Ghani while addressing at a news conference at the press club here on Wednesday.

Ghani said KP Chief Minister Pervez Khattak was on visit to China for attending meeting of the Joint Co-ordination Committee (JCC) of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. During his visit, he informed that KP government was going to sign agreement with government of China for 1200MW hydel power generation, fast railway track between Peshawar, Nowshera, Charsada Mardan and Swabi districts and construction of Gilgit-Chakdarra and Dir Chitral roads.

When asked about another much anticipated mass transit bus project, the spokesman has replied that the initial work on this important project has been initiated, which would be completed by end of 2018. He, however, said the government had planned to run buses between Peshawar-Hayatabad to Chamkani, besides a separate bus service for women in Peshawar and Abbottabad.

Responding to another question regarding government's efforts towards attracting foreign investment in the province, he answered that with the signing of agreements with the government of China it would give boost to foreign investment in KP. He said the government was also providing all kind of facilities and incentives to investors under 'one-window' operation in the province.

While commenting on provincial government last six month performance, Ghani said a sum of Rs 505 billion had been allocated for financial year 2016-17, out of which Rs 276.114 billion so far released, of that almost Rs 167.804 billion consumed with ratio of 61 percent. Ghani said the KP government, under vision of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan, had taken initiatives to provide maximum relief to poor people of the province. He said the government had made record legislations during last three and half year, prominently among them; conflict of interest Act, whistleblower Act and legislation against the interest-based business in the province.
